Performance Class: Reality TV with Ndem Nkem
Prerequisite: You must have completed up to Level 5 Advanced Scenework (or equivalent classes in Performance Mastery, Longform Ensemble, and/or The Harold.) REGISTRATION REQUIRES AUDITION.
Step into the world of unscripted drama, over-the-top confessionals, and hilarious rivalries in this improv performance class taught by Ndem Nkem.
Through dynamic exercises, character work, and scene-building techniques, you'll learn how to create the high-stakes drama, outrageous personalities, and spontaneous humor that make reality television so captivating. From cutthroat competition shows to dramatic dating series and beyond, you’ll master the art of heightened emotions, strategic alliances, and confessionals that reveal the “real” story behind the scenes.
Whether you're a fan of Survivor, The Bachelor, Real Housewives, or Big Brother, this class will give you the skills to bring reality TV to life—unscripted and unfiltered!
What You’ll Learn:
???? Bold character choices & reality TV archetypes
???? The art of the confessional interview
???? Pacing and structure for episodic storytelling
???? Creating drama, alliances, and betrayals
???? Finding comedy in heightened reality
All students who are cast into this class will receive expert instruction on the genre and format, as well as coaching and feedback for three class performances (with an optional fourth performance in Friday Night Fights) at Curious Comedy Theater.
The class will include 7 class rehearsals and 3 performances with coaching at Curious Comedy Theater.

Ndem Nkem is an actor/comedian based out in Portland, Oregon. He started improv in 2020 and has taken classes with kickstand comedy and curious comedy. He performs stand-up, improv, and clowning and loves teaching folks the beauty of improv comedy. He believes improv comedy can improve our lives and would love to show you how.

We strongly encourage those who can get vaccinated to do so for your safety and the safety of others. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, we encourage you to do so. Many of our staff are still choosing to wear masks, so it's likely you will not be the only one in a mask. We support you taking whatever precautions feel right to you!
