This acting class class will introduce students to basic acting skills and challenge students to develop their voice and body as a fully unified and expressive instrument. Various exercises will encourage the students to build ensemble, emotional flexibility, commitment stage presence, being in the moment and risk taking. Students will learn about beats, actions and objectives and apply them to contemporary scene work.
F. Tyler Burnet has worked as an actor on stages in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and the Northwest for over 20 years. His favorite credits are at the Milwaukee Rep, Riverside Shakespeare Festival, and touring the US, Canada, and Japan with Broadway musicals Sister Act and West Side Story. Locally he has worked with Portland Shakespeare Project and Portland Center Stage in the epic two-part world premiere Astoria: Parts 1 & 2. He is a member of Actors Equity, and the Voice and Speech Trainers Association.
F. Tyler earned his MFA in Performance from the University of Georgia, and has completed the training programs at Improv Olympic, ComedySportz, UCB Hollywood, 500 Clown, and the Directing Program at Second City Chicago--where he taught for several years.
He has also studied with theatre visionaries, including Patsy Rodenburg, Keith Johnstone, and Lisa Kron.
Please be advised there will be some work outside of class that includes some memorization and rehearsal of assigned scenes .
