Improv to Sketch
Duration: 1 class session
Learn how to approach improv as a way to produce scripted material. Whether it's on a stage or for your new web series, taking great improvised scene work and turning it into something repeatable and long-lasting is very fun and very doable. In this workshop, you will learn how to pitch a premise, refine your existing ideas and what improvisational processes will help you get there so you can turn your favorite improvised bits into the next great sketch show. Previous improv experience recommended.
Shantira Jackson is a Chicago transplant newly based in Brooklyn. She is a currently a staff writer for BET's sketch show "50 Central" and the game "Cards Against Humanity". She has been featured on Splitsider, Refinery29's "Strong Opinions Loosely Held" and was a writer for the 2018 Writer's Guild Awards and the 2018 Webby Awards. She is an alum of The Second City Mainstage and can be seen performing all over the country with her critically acclaimed improv group 3Peat.
